SEASONAL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

 

The Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128 is now accepting applications for a seasonal time equipment operator with duties to commence as soon as possible and ending on October 31, 2023, depending on weather, and or as mutually agreed.  There is a possibility of this position turning into a full-time.

 

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• the operation of municipal equipment such as a grader, mower, &/or tractor for the maintenance and repair of municipal roads;
• general service, maintenance and minor repair of municipal equipment;
• ensuring the equipment is operated in a safe manner;
• manual labour as required for sign installation, culvert maintenance, general shop and yard maintenance;
• other duties as directed by the Foreman from time to time.

 

Skills and Abilities
• have skills & knowledge in the maintenance & operation of heavy equipment;

• check, lubricate, fuel and clean equipment;

• perform pre-operational checks on equipment;

• be able to work well unsupervised and be a team player;

• be safety minded;

• have good interpersonal skills;

• have strong communication, organization & documentation skills;
• must keep work area clean and safe.

 

Applicants must:
• have a Powered Mobile Equipment (PME) certificate or willing to achieve;
• have WHMIS or be willing to achieve;
• possess a valid Class 5 drivers license and 1 A driver’s license
• be able to lift up to 50 lbs.;
• be willing to be supervised and take direction from the municipal Public Works Manager

 

Salary will be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.  The RM offers an excellent health and dental plan as well as a pension plan.  The qualified applicant will be expected to join Teamsters Local Union No. 395 as an employee with the RM.
