PUBLIC NOTICE - ZONING BYLAW AMENDMENTS

Public notice is hereby given that the Council of the Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128 intends to adopt a bylaw under The Planning and Development Act, 2007 to amend Bylaw No. 2022-13, known as the Zoning Bylaw.

INTENT:

To amend the zoning bylaw by:

  1. Amend Section 2.6.3 Minor Variance
  2. Delete and replace Section 2.8.1
  3. Delete and replace Section 2.9.1
  4. Delete and replace Section 3.10.2
  5. Delete and replace Section 3.27 Large Wind Energy Systems, subsection 3.27.1 d) I
  6. Amend Section 8.2 Permitted Uses to add the following within subsection 1) Agricultural Uses
  7. Delete and replace subsection 9.3.1) Discretionary Uses in the Commercial District (C)
  8. Amend Section 14.6 Definitions

AFFECTED LANDS:

All rural land located in the Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128.

REASON:

The reason for the amendment is to update the Zoning Bylaw as per Community Planning recommendations as well as for amendments to the Country Residential District (CR2) to add barns as a permitted use; change the setback distance for large wind energy systems to 1.1 times the height of the tower instead of 1.5; and to add a discretionary use of crop farming to the Commercial District.

PUBLIC INSPECTION:

Any person may inspect the bylaw at the Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128 office between 9:00am and 5:00pm on Monday to Friday excluding statutory holidays.  Copies are available at cost.

PUBLIC HEARING:

Council will hold a public hearing on April 9, 2024 at 10:00am at the RM office to hear any person or group that wants to comment on the proposed bylaw.  Council will also consider written comments received at the hearing or delivered to the undersigned at the municipal office before the hearing.
